THE IMAGINEERS are people we meet on our travels
in remote villages high in the mountains
along rivers and borders
in the deserts and townships
…..even our own neighbourhood

There will always be new ideas….
new ways to recycle waste and unwanted “stuff”

We mostly buy our craft directly from the artist
hopefully increasing self esteem
and self confidence

They create what comes naturally
if we like it ….. we buy it!

The team of magnet makers

Sibusiso

One of the reasons why Sibusiso's fish helicopter never gets completed is because he works on his very own designed bicycle which weighs a tonne but rides like a dream

Sibusiso

We arrived early one morning with breakfast. Sibusiso poked his head through the window of his bedroom to greet us.

Sibusiso

Sibusiso feels that if the father, the preacher, the doctor, the chief, the teacher, the magistrate and the president perform their duties with honesty and integrity then we will have a healthy society

Temba

Maker of mystical creatures made from papier mache and finished off with delightfully intricate paintwork

Makers of rusty hearts

Workers making rusty metal hearts, metal roses and LOVE signs.

Sibusiso

Hands of a master artist - Sibusiso Mbhele - barely a fingerprint is visible from years of working with metal and wire.

Harry

Harry Kentrotas putting the last touches to the scrap metal zebra - commonly referred to as the "exhausted horse" because it is made from old exhaust pipes and manifolds. Harry is a prolific scrap metal artist.

Khwe Bushman basket maker

Basket making is a seasonal craft. Here is the beginnings of a new basket where the maker is dipping the grass into a yellow dye (made from the crushed dry root of a local plant) before being woven into the basket. It can take up to a week to make a basket
